$1.39/proxy is the entry rate for datacenter proxies (bought per IP); residential proxies cost $7/GB at the 1GB minimum purchase, dropping to $1.75/GB on 10TB+ contracts.
IPRoyal is a proxy provider based in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, founded in 2020, aimed both at developers integrating proxies via API and at users buying just a handful of IPs for one-off scraping, ad verification or social-media tasks. Unlike most providers its size, it also sells in small units — a single IP, a single GB — alongside the usual bulk packages.
It covers all four types: residential (64M+ IPs across 195+ countries, targetable by country, state and city), datacenter (60+ locations, unlimited concurrent sessions), ISP (500K+ IPs across 31+ countries) and mobile (4.5M+ IPs). The awkward question of where its residential IPs come from has an explicit answer: the company states it sources them "through its direct partner - Pawns.app, as well as through established IP service provider partnerships", describing the mechanism as users who "share their internet bandwidth", with their devices acting as network exit points. Pawns.app is the company's own app, which pays installers for sharing data, taking surveys or playing games, not just for donating their connection. The rest of the catalogue runs on genuine pay-as-you-go with no lock-in: non-expiring traffic, no contracts, and plans starting from 1GB or a single IP. The "Start Free Trial" button on the residential page does not hand out free traffic: it leads straight to paid plans starting at $7/GB.

Where residential proxy IPs actually come from
A residential proxy routes your traffic through someone else's home connection, and that's worth far more than a datacentre IP. Of the four providers reviewed, only two explain how they source those I...
