Raydium is Solana's leading automated market maker and liquidity infrastructure protocol, launched in February 2021 by a pseudonymous team. As the first AMM on Solana to integrate directly with OpenBook (formerly Serum), Solana's central limit order book (CLOB), Raydium pioneered a hybrid model where AMM liquidity pools and order book liquidity coexist and reinforce each other — giving traders access to deeper liquidity and more competitive prices than a standalone AMM could provide.

Raydium has since expanded to offer concentrated liquidity market maker (CLMM) pools, enabling liquidity providers to set custom price ranges for dramatically improved capital efficiency — analogous to Uniswap V3's concentrated liquidity model but optimized for Solana's sub-second block times and sub-cent transaction fees. Raydium's yield farming system allows liquidity providers to earn RAY emissions and partner project tokens in addition to swap fee income by depositing LP tokens into active farms.
