Private Internet Access (PIA) is a US-based VPN, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, built for people who care more about unlimited devices, unrestricted P2P support and an aggressive entry price than about branding or app design.
Its no-logs policy has been reviewed twice by Deloitte Audit Romania — most recently in 2025 — which concluded that PIA does not collect data that could identify a user or their activity; the company itself also points out that this commitment has been tested "in court", in real legal cases, not only in commissioned audits. The company is legally based in the United States, a member of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance: jurisdiction matters here because a US court can compel the company to hand over records, and PIA's defence is that its architecture simply has nothing to hand over. PIA's privacy policy is, of the three brands covered here, the only one that explicitly names "Kape Technologies" on its own site; Kape acquired PIA in December 2019, though PIA's own website gives no exact founding year (only "10+ years" of history).
PIA offers servers in 91 countries, with dedicated IPs in around twenty locations, the OpenVPN and WireGuard protocols, a kill switch, split tunnelling, RAM-only servers, and unlimited simultaneous devices on a single subscription. The cheapest plan costs $1.79/month, billed as $69.81 for 3 years and 3 months, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Cryptocurrency is not offered as a payment method at checkout today.
