The $1.99/mo figure is the 2-year-plus-2-month plan (billed $51.74, then $51.74/year); the monthly plan costs $12.99 and only carries a 14-day guarantee, versus 45 days on the long plan.

CyberGhost is a VPN founded in 2011 in Bucharest, built around an entry-level price and a simple interface, aimed at people who want to unblock streaming catalogues, torrent with some protection, or just hide their traffic without paying a premium.

Its no-logs policy has been audited by Deloitte Audit Romania under the ISAE 3000 standard, in a report updated in 2025 that examined the VPN server architecture, change-management processes and the dedicated-IP token system. The company is legally based in Romania (CyberGhost S.R.L., Bucharest), an EU member state with favourable privacy laws. What CyberGhost's own website does not state on its company pages (about, imprint, privacy hub) is that, since March 2017, it has belonged to Kape Technologies — the same group that has owned Private Internet Access since December 2019 and ExpressVPN since December 2021 — a fact that does appear on Kape's own corporate site but not on the CyberGhost pages checked.

The network currently runs 9,900 servers across 100 countries (125 locations), supports up to 7 simultaneous devices, and offers the OpenVPN, IKEv2 and WireGuard protocols, a kill switch, split tunnelling, servers flagged as P2P-optimised, and a dedicated-IP add-on. The cheapest plan costs $1.99/month, billed as $51.74 for the first 26 months (2 years + 2 months) and renewing afterwards at the same annual amount; the refund window is 45 days on long-term plans but only 14 on the monthly one. Cryptocurrency is not offered as a payment method at checkout today.
