Trader Joe is Avalanche's leading decentralized exchange, launched in June 2021 as a one-stop DeFi platform on the Avalanche C-Chain. Founded by a pseudonymous team, Trader Joe rapidly captured the majority of DEX trading volume on Avalanche by offering not just token swaps but a comprehensive DeFi hub including yield farming, staking, a lending market (Banker Joe), and NFT marketplace — all within a single, cohesive interface. The JOE token was distributed through farming emissions and serves as the governance and revenue-sharing token for the protocol.

The platform's most significant technical innovation is the Liquidity Book AMM (LB), launched in late 2022.
